our people
Our greatest asset is not a singular skill, but a wide variety of talent under one roof. We're well-versed in acquisitions, development, construction, leasing, finance and accounting, as well as property management and marketing.
When you do business with us, you're in good hands. The Plat:form team has extensive industry experience.
Our team includes:
Kyle Shury : Principal
Kyle's take on life is that it consists of three buckets: family, community, and work. For life to be fully lived all three buckets should be near their brims, and preferably not empty.
Kyle's work bucket started as a teenager pushing a broom on his brother's construction job sites. Knowing that was not his calling, a trip to UBC followed for his Bachelor of Commerce (Urban Land Economics and Finance). A three-year stint in commercial real estate was up next during which he had the good fortune of working with numerous developers, including the Townline Group of Companies. Kyle subsequently joined Rick at Townline, where he spent thirteen years learning and honing his understanding of the development business from his mentor and close friend.
In 2010, Kyle took another step and Platform Properties was born. Since then, the company has been developing real estate throughout the beautiful province of British Columbia. Platform's success has been built on opportunities through many amazing relationships forged over Kyle's 25+ years in the business. Trust and finding win-win solutions are just two of the core values Kyle and Platform breathe every day. Kyle is extremely proud of the team he has working alongside him and in making Platform what it is today.
Kyle's community bucket includes plenty of time giving back to his hometown. He is a proud "Richmond Boy" and takes particular pride in his backyard of Steveston. You can often find him at the soccer pitch, school gymnasium or hockey rink, with three active kids. He is active in coaching, as well as playing soccer; just ask him about his beloved Red Bulls and All/Old Blacks FC. Kyle also spent eight years on the board of the Richmond Hospital Foundation, his last three as chair, and remains an honorary director where he continues to actively support the foundation.
Lastly, Kyle's family bucket is the one he is most proud of. An amazing wife and three pretty cool kids keep that bucket full to the brim.
Adam Khong : Construction & Development
Adam has been involved with the construction industry since 1997. Prior to joining Plat:form in 2011, Adam was partner and manager of a successful general contracting company in the Fraser Valley. With 20+ years of experience, Adam has had the privilege of working on many interesting and unique projects in all areas, including retail, residential, commercial, industrial and institutional. Adam's dedication to his craft began in high school construction class and continues today. Adam brings this significant experience to Plat:form, where his depth of knowledge is a valuable asset, and he is proud to have a hand in creating quality buildings that positively impacts our communities. Outside the office, Adam can be found riding his bike in Richmond with his young family and is often found in the kitchen pursing his other passion — cooking.
Andrew Sinclair : Development & Acquisitions
Andrew has over 15 years of experience in the real estate development industry. Prior to joining Plat:form, Andrew — as an employee of a major national development company — managed the development of several high-profile shopping centres throughout Western Canada and the Northwestern United States. His experience includes comprehensive land assembly, land use approvals and tenant negotiations, all of which greatly benefit his work at Plat:form today.
Andrew balances his professional life with his young family and recreational pursuits including skiing and water sports.
John Allan : Leasing
John has over 10 years of real estate industry experience, the majority of which has been spent with a focus on the brokerage and leasing side of the business. After graduating from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce (specialization in Real Estate), John worked for several years in appraisal and commercial brokerage prior to joining Plat:form in 2014. At Plat:form, John manages all aspects of the leasing process including the negotiation of all applicable lease documentation; active communication with the brokerage community as well as current and prospective tenants; and ensuring pertinent leasing information flows between Plat:form's team. John is also actively growing his skill set in other areas of the development business.
Outside of work, John is busy with his young family and in his spare time enjoys running, swimming, and playing hockey, among other interests.
Kathy Howarth : Finance & Accounting
Kathy has over 20 years' experience in the real estate industry beginning during her time in public practice at Ernst & Young, where she had numerous real estate clients and developed a keen interest in this area. Prior to joining Plat:form, Kathy spent six years as Vice President of Finance for a large, local developer that specializes in commercial and mixed-use developments. At Platform, she oversees the team responsible for financing, forecasting, cashflow management and reporting for the organization's developments and income producing portfolio.
Kathy and her husband live in Steveston with their two busy teenage children. In her spare time, Kathy stays active doing Pilates and taking her labradoodle for walks and unwinds by reading, traveling, and volunteering in her community.
Randy Klarenbach : Legal

Prior to joining Plat:form, Randy practiced law with Lawson Lundell and Richards Buell Sutton and was involved in the acquisition, development and sale of commercial and residential projects ranging from single lots to regional shopping centers, as well as advising tenants and landlords in leasing operations.
